When to schedule an appointment?

Your first consultation/fitting appointment should be 2 1/2- 3 months prior to your wedding date or date of travel if it is a destination wedding. Educational consultations for a quote only may be done earlier, if available.

You will need to reach out to secure a slot on the alterations list up to 5 months ahead of time for peak season event dates. Cancellations do happen so check back to see if something opens up.

Peak wedding season in Oregon is May-September. If your wedding is during this time, please plan ahead and contact your preferred alteration studio up to a year in advance.

What to expect at your wedding fitting appointment?

Wedding gown fittings take approximately 45min. There is a one time $55 wedding gown consultation fee due at booking to confirm your time slot.

You will need to bring your bra, slip and shoes you will be wearing at the event if they are needed with your gown. Rethread Alterations has bra cups size A-H that can be sewn into the gown. Please let me know your size when booking so I am sure to have it on hand or it can be ordered.

The dress will be pinned to show you an ideal fit for the alterations you desire.

For dresses with a train you will be shown bustle options to choose the best look for your wedding budget.

Fees for desired alterations will be discussed, so you can decide on the best look that meets your needs and budget. A full estimate is provided at an in person consultation only.

Did you know? …How much alterations would cost.

The cost of alterations is based on the complexity of each task and your desired alterations you would like done. The cost of altering a wedding gown has a wide range: you can typically expect the total cost to be in the $500-$1,500 range. Typical alterations include: waist and/or bust adjustments, strap adjustments, a front hem, and a bustle. More complex alterations might include adding sleeves, re-styling a neckline or backline, drastic shortening. Be sure you budget that in when choosing a dress. A rush service option may be available for those that need a quicker turnaround time for an additional fee of 50%.
